2/9/2020 | Hospitality and the Gospel
"There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God." At first glance, this is a head nodding kind of verse. Yes. I agree with that. Amen! There is no one like our God. But these words weren't uttered by a priest. They didn't come out of the mouth of a prophet or an elder or a worship leader. These are the words of a mother. A mother who was giving her son to serve God in the temple. A mother who was letting go of her only son for the rest of his life. The same mother who, just a couple of years ago, appeared drunk in her desperation, crying out to the Lord to give her a son. Yes, indeed there is no one like this God. No one else is worthy of such magnificent surrender and trust that Hannah displayed when she sang this song. "There is no rock like our God!"
